1. I am following the discussions on the various lists about the proposed 4th peerage in the SCA with interest. I have opinions and they are personal. I do not have a peerage, nor do I aspire to one, but I am interested to see where this discussion goes.

2. Birthday plans have shifted slightly, since Argus has decided to take the day off to celebrate with me. Yay!

3. I saw a porcupine on my walk yesterday! It was very cool - he was very grumpy, so I stayed a cautious distance behind him. Alas, my cell phone camera is not good and it was twilight, so no pictures.

4. My daffodils are still alive!

5. Everything is better with pirates.*

*Extra points if you recognize the movie quote.
Today was the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Family Walk in Albany. [livejournal.com profile] caitlindancer, me, my parents and my sister Debbie walked with two of her friends in it - I added 2 more miles to my Eowyn Challenge and a wonderful memory.

We walked in memory of my Aunt Susan, my mother's youngest sister, who lost her battle with breast cancer, and my father's mother, who also lost her battle. We walked for my mother's mother, who is still fighting her battle. And we walked for the Pumpkin, in the hopes that she will someday never again have to worry about losing someone she loves to this disease.

We raised over $600 for research. Next year, we're thinking about doing the Walk in Hartford instead, so we can have more family walk with us. My knee hurts now (forgot my brace, stupid, stupid!) but it's a good hurt - an ache more than anything. And it was amazing. There were so many people there!

Debbie and I are working our way up to the Avon Three-Day. Our next goal is a 5k walk.

Now, I'm going to go make another cup of tea (this is a civilized hotel room - free wifi, a tea (okay, it's a coffee maker) pot, a microwave and a refrigerator) and write. Mom's taking a nap in the other room and Dad and [livejournal.com profile] caitlindancer went to find out what Albany offers for bookstores.
