Blog title courtesy of Mark and Danielle at WOKQ 97.5 this morning - I thought it was appropriate.

I left my house at 6:30 am, and 2 hours later, made it to Merrimack. Folks, be smart and stay home if you can today.

Someday, honestly, I will get a job that will let me work from home when the weather is lousy.

So I'm very, very happy to be in the department I'm in. With the mess forecast for tomorrow and my knee, I wasn't looking forward to coming in. Viola! Or rather, VTO!

Yay!

Of course, I'll have to get out and shovel, but I'd rather do that then drive an hour in the snow and sleet into work...

Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] starlitears? We can send in our own updates to Console. Just have to cc the manager.

ALL our updates.

So convenient....

Not really, but if you could hear the complaining in my training class today, you'd think the world was ending. Seriously, guys, we're professionals. Put on your big girl/boy panties and get over it.

Okay, rant done.

Snow is coming - I might actually have pictures for those crazy Californians folks who have been asking for them tomorrow. We're supposed to get 2-5" tomorrow, and then another mess on Friday. Lucky us!

Writing - I was doing technical (legal) writing last night for class, but tonight I'm planning on finishing Three Ships and sending it out to my lovely alphas. Then I have to study - my final is tomorrow, then I'm done until mid-January!!!

Got some more Christmas shopping done last night - bought some Terry Prachett for my brother, and ordered Nurk by [livejournal.com profile] ursulav for my niece. Support writers, folks - buy books for Christmas presents!!! (You know, my novella Snow is a great present - and it doesn't need to be wrapped!!! Just a suggestion... *grin*)

January, I think I'm taking criminal law. Can't wait! The only problem I'm finding with taking paralegal classes - now I don't know WHAT kind of law I want to do! They're all so interesting!!! *waah!*

Well, we still have power, but my folks don't. According to the news, there are over 300,000 people without power in NH and ME, and with temperatures dropping, they're expecting more. *sigh* Keep your fingers crossed.

Oh, and the worst part?

All they brought in for drinks this morning was COFFEE. And no way to heat water for tea.

*sulk*

As of 8 am this morning, per [livejournal.com profile] argus7hills. HIS work sent him home today. Mine, alas, did not. Despite the fact that we're running on emergency generators. Ah well.

Why is all the power out? Because the world looks like this (apologies - this was taken in the freezing rain with my cell phone):

The reports on the radio say that there are more than 200,000 PSNH customers without power right now, and they're expecting that number to rise this afternoon and evening, when the temperature drops to the low 20s and high teens and all this lovely rain freezes again. They're also saying it may take DAYS to get everyone back up and running. Ugh. There are tree branches and TREES down everywhere. Most of the towns I went through this morning at 6 am were without power, either completely or partially. We had power flickers all last night, which means not a lot of sleep.

Welcome to New Hampshire in the winter. *sigh* Oh well, it could be snow.

Then again, snow's less destructive, and easier to deal with.

Needless to say, if we lose power, we won't be going to Connecticut or Vermont this weekend.

Dear Mother Nature,

I know how much you love winter. I agree, you look gorgeous in white.

BUT.

There is still 20+ inches in my backyard. An additional 4-8 inches is overkill.

And during the morning commute? Respectfully, you suck.

No love,

Me
